Jorge Mario Pedro Vargas Llosa nació un domingo 28 de marzo de 1936
en la ciudad de Arequipa (Perú). Sus padres, Ernesto Vargas Maldonado y
Dora Llosa Ureta, ya estaban separados cuando vino al mundo y no
conocería a su progenitor hasta los diez años de edad.
(Jorge Mario Pedro Vargas Llosa was born on March 28 1936 in the city of
Arequipa Peru. His parents Ernesto Vargas Maldonado and Dora LLosa Ureta
were already separated when he was born and he would not know his father
until he was ten years old.)
Estudia la primaria hasta el cuarto año en el Colegio La Salle de
Cochabamba en Bolivia. En 1945 su familia vuelve al Perú y se instala en
la ciudad de Piura, donde cursa el quinto grado en el Colegio Salesiano
de esa ciudad. Culmina su educación primaria en Lima e inicia la
secundaria en el Colegio La Sa
(He studied at the Colegio La Salle de Cochabamba in Bolivia up until
the fourth grade. In 1945 his family returned to Peru and settled in the
city of Piura, where Mario studied the fith grade at the Colegio
Salesiano of that city. He finished his Primary School education in Lima
and started the High School at the Colegio La Sa.)
